Howdy,
My name's Mark Rubin, Jew of Oklahoma
Here's my website, and here's how you can contact me.
(512) 659-8952, if you're old fashioned;-)
I've been in show business for 33 years now, doing my best to produce good quality music and culture, founding the Bad Livers and the Atomic Duo, producing soundtracks for Richard Linklater and Douglas McGrath, touring all over Europe and points East playing Jewish and Rroma music with Frank London, Boban Markovic and the Other Europeans. My work with the Other Europeans was documented as a featured voice in the acclaimed film "The Broken Sound," and WDR (Germany) recently broadcast a radio documentary on my life as a Jewish Musician working in the American South called "Southern Discomfort." Doubtless, I've skipped over quite bunch (Radio DJ, published writer and cultural critic, String Bass clinician, Grammy nominated Record producer) but at some point it just sounds like bragging and we get enough of that stuff in this biz, right?
The reason why I'm asking you to read this and hope that you offer me a slot at your private room showcase is simply that I just released my very first solo effort and am debuting myself as a Folk Singer. Hopefully you'll check out my credentials and take a chance on presenting me.
Here's a snippet from "The Broken Sound:"
And here's a performance at the Kennedy Center of a Gil Scott Heron composition, featured on my debut CD "Southern Discomfort:"
Thanks kindly and hope to hear from you!!
MR
