GABRIEL KELLEY
(Nashville Tn )
Link to Music
“If you want something done right, do it yourself” – advice often ignored but in Gabriel Kelley’s case advice always taken to heart. The talented 29-year-old has composed the music, raised the funds and co-produced both his debut album, “It Don’t Come Easy” and his soon to be released “Lighter Shades of Blue” essentially taking on the role of singer-songwriter, arranger and executive producer. “It Don’t Come Easy” was a long time coming—Kelley reckons “I waited six years to make my first album”—largely because its ten songs express a pretty expansive range of life experience. That includes a rural, working-class boyhood in Georgia, a total immersion living-abroad, adolescence and an early adulthood spent—and subsequently walked away from—as a professional songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row. Gabriel’s creative philosophy, succinctly expressed, is this: “there is no point in writing or recording unless you mean what you’re saying.” “Lighter Shades of Blue” is a collection of acoustic tunes inspired by days travelling from place to place. This time around Kelley says, "I focused on the simple heart of the tunes and let them speak with gentle, appropriate arrangement and musical support. My new record centers on the heart, honesty and truth. The songs are unbridled and transparent, centered on my grassroots and vagabond nature. I live to be on the road, on stage to tell my story and to share my art with fans new and old.” A release date in Spring of 2015 is planned for Lighter Shades of Blue.
Gabriel has performed over the entire United States and Abroad sharing the stage with the likes of Old Crow Medicine Show, World Party, Marc Broussard, Chris Robinson Brotherhood,Sturgill Simpson, Cracker, and many more.
